  • One of the most impactful CPD courses available for anyone working to support the wellbeing of young people. The training offers a wealth of practical, realistic, and easy-to-implement strategies that can be applied immediately in a school setting. As someone with years of experience in pastoral and safeguarding roles, I found this course to be affirming. It deepened my understanding and gave me fresh tools to support students more effectively. In my view, this is essential CPD that every pastoral and safeguarding lead should attend. It empowers staff to respond to students with greater confidence, compassion, and clarity—something every school can benefit from.

  • It was an incredibly valuable and informative experience. The course provided a comprehensive understanding of various mental health issues, effective communication strategies, and the importance of empathy and support. The ALGEE framework was particularly helpful in learning how to approach, listen, give support, and encourage professional help and self-help strategies. Through role-play exercises and real-life scenarios, I gained confidence in applying these skills to provide appropriate support to those in need. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this MHFA course and am eager to apply the knowledge and skills I've gained to support others in my personal and professional life. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in learning how to provide initial assistance to those experiencing mental health challenges. The instructor did so well, altogether it was a great experience.

  • Excellent course, way above what I was expecting in the depth of content and quality of training materials for such a short course. Very impressed with the trainer communications before and during the course, and with the delivery by both the trainers. The online platform worked really well on desktop and mobile. I learned a huge amount, gained a lot of confidence, and really had to think. Thank you, Jo and Brendan!

  • Brendan was a fantastic teacher! Very engaging and varied in his teaching style, which really helped digest the information better. The environment felt warm and inclusive, with everyone's views being considered equally, fairly and with respect. The content of the course was incredibly interesting and a useful refresher on mental health. Further still, the top tips for handling low mood and helping others who may be struggling will be something I'll find forever useful.

  • I would give Brendan an 11. He's excellent in the way he presented the mental health first aider course. He made it so interesting despite it being a heavy topic to discuss. Thank you so much, Brendan. I will miss meeting up with our group on Thursdays. You've given me the confidence to be the best mental health first aider possible.

  • Brendan was a fantastic tutor for the two-day course. Very knowledgeable and taught this knowledge in a very good and passionate way. He made the course very enjoyable and used excellent methods to implement the course. Brendan was on hand to offer any advice and able to answer any question posed to him. I had some minor awareness of mental health before the course. However, after the course and through Brendan's teachings I feel he has increased my knowledge tenfold. He used real case scenarios and teaching videos which were valuable to increase our knowledge of mental health.
